This is a developmental Engineering Technician, GS-0802-05/06/07 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, Operations Division. The position will be located at the Mountain Home Project Office in Mountain Home, AR. Mountain Home is a city in, and the county seat of, Baxter County, Arkansas, in the southern Ozark Mountains. It is the center of the Twin Lakes area, with Norfork Lake 15 minutes to the east and
Shoals Lake 20 minutes to the northwest. The city is located within 15 to 20 minutes of three rivers, the Buffalo National River, the White River and the North Fork River, which features the world-renowned Norfork Tailwater, all of these making the Mountain Home area one of the nation's top freshwater fishing destinations. You will serve as part of a team of engineering technicians responsible for detailed planning of operations and maintenance accomplished through construction, service contracts, and/or hired labor. Typical duties will include providing technical support to engineering staff. Other type duties will include:
Create and maintain files of drawings, specifications, maps, and other documents Utilize a computer to perform computations and check computations for accuracy Draft simple drawings like curves, lines and traces Maintain and repair facilities to include minor mechanical, electrical, masonry, and plumbing duties Provide assistance to higher graded engineers Conduct basic field operations and obtain, identify and store material samples In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:
1) gathering project related data for reports; 2) perform drafting duties to include:
drawing simple curves, lines or tracings; 3) operating power tools or equipment; and 4) performing basic repair tasks in plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

I have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or at least four years of undergraduate level education in a field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology, that included at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering/industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than two years but less than four years of undergraduate education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond the second year by 30. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
